I've forgotten about this song.
May. 9th, 2003 10:34 amFLA's "Milleniunm" album was made in 1994, but frankly, the music still holds up and sounds exactly like I was expecting music to feel like when getting a sense on the state of affairs in the new Millenium, technological advancement, politcal stife and all that nonsense. I swear, I "sensed" that every time I listened to taht CD.
FLA's ignored by DJ's these days, and I'm still waiting for bands to catch up. (ALthough Covenant's "Northern Lights" is getting closer) FLA these days is a shell of its former self, but they still got cool sounds every now and then. But for capturing a sense of what the future is going to "feel" like, this album did it for me.
..I have got to start writing music again...

My favourite quote:
...At first, said Phillips, "the lead male got a stone and started bashing the hell out of it.
"Another thing they were interested in was in defecating and urinating all over the keyboard"...
I've had days like that with my gear. I'm man enough to admit that. I mean, I'm not a CS or Physics expert, but maybe the elemental compounds of human feces will work proactivly with the nanocircuitry of the motherboard..
...it is just a theory...
Am in TMI'ing here?

May. 9th, 2003 11:55 amWhat's the most challenging aspect of music for you? - Creating it! :) Aside from that, let's see. Knowing when I'm onto something; knowing when to abandon and move on; being able to say "It's done"; not caring what people think; making every note count; ABG - always be groundbreaking, (A la Glengarry Glen Ross) by which I mean I should always march to the noise in my head and not succumb to being influenced by too many trends; knowing when to listen to and when to ignore criticism; deciding at what level of granularity do I want to be original, meaning should I write the music or obsess over the instrument sounds and fight the urge to use familiar-ish beats (do you know how many times I;ve heard "When the Levee breaks" sampled??!?); combatting the urge to sleep when writing music; fighting the urge of feeling incapable in the company of other artisans, writers, painters, actors, that have been published or produced or showcased, etc.; knowing when my music is better than somebody's and not being afraid to say it; fight the urge to sample myself farting; not overapply music theory.
I think about that and a couple of other things, I suppose. :)
Are you superman? - I don't wear red underwear. Wait, I don't wear underwear, ever!
How many uses can you find for fruit? - In personal experience, about 5 useful applications.
I don't even know you. Uhm. Do you or don't you? Doing it right now. Does the thought make you wet? Want the webcam URL.. what do you think I'm doing?!?! :)
What are your thoughts as to how fire-spinning relates to spirituality or transforming energy? - I try to talk to Brigid every time I spin fire. It's usually during fire spinning I get some magikal insight. I don't talk about it with anyone, because I don't want to cheapen the moment and make people think I'm nuts with what goes through my head. I also sometimes feel other dieties are trying to talk to me, but I don't know who. Most people probably think their channeling Prometheus, but I find arrogant for people to natural assume they're capturing the spirit of someone who was essential, a great benefactor to others. I don't do enough to call myself, most people don't.
But I do see FireSpinning as a channeling moment. But I never force it, make it part of ritual to evoke somebody, if it happens, cool, if it doesn't, no wories on my end.
