Got to the Castle after spending a few minutes over in Alameda with [livejournal.com profile] retrodiva1 and others fire dancing. We were behind in the points for the pub quiz, but we caught up in the end, thanks mostly to [livejournal.com profile] colubra's vast literary and art knowledge. We tossed a few back and then wandered over @ Mel's where [livejournal.com profile] wurmfoodadmitted to owning a DVD of Dungeons & Dragons...I felt quite disturbed, that we carried a conversation for more than 30 seconds on the gods awful flick.

I mentioned this dream I had a few days ago: Me and this woman were sent to a space station for performing and documenting the results of sexual penetration in a zero-g environment. Specifcally: anal sex. Somehow, we were specialists in the area. We were up there, taking notes while "doing the deed" and then I woke up. I did not know how to interpret that one. [livejournal.com profile] colubra had the best insight: "Never. Go. Into. Orbit."

But still, definitely one of the more obtuse dreascapes I have ever encountered in my sleep time. If there is a message or a lesson there aside from avoiding orbit, I don't see it.

Good times tonight. Time for bed.

I'm impressed by the fact this company donates 10% of their profits to the EFF. I wonder if the product is any good...

Evanescence has postponed their tour, so they won't be coming to the Event Center.

Tickets will either be honored or are refundable. Probably has something to do with the guitarist leaving the tour in Berlin.

I feel like real dope about my breakfast today (especially in light of my nutritional discussion with [livejournal.com profile] dichroicynosure, thanks, btw...) but due to time constraints, it is consisting of the following:

one (1) 2 1/4 oz bag of Fritos (ingredients: Corn, Corn Oil, and Salt)
one (1) 12 Fl. Oz. can of Mountain Dew (ingredients: a whole lotta azucar)

Oddly enough, it's quite fulfilling.

I was back-n-forth'ing with a friend of mine about "creative block" and she told me she like to clear her head and get into the mental space where she can work.

Lately, I seem to do my best work in the midst of control chaos: I need to be keeping one my 3 eyeballs on other things: forum discussions, IM conversations, Documentary on Gaudi on the telé, etc. I don't think that's a good thing, since it sort of plays into my ADD by keeping my peripherals occupied while I'm "focusing" on my main task at hand. There's something about that that makes me a little uneasy, as if I'm doing some long-term damage to myself.

There is a point when there are too many distraction for me to concentrate, but that's rare. I generally feel quite safe and sane sitting my butt in the middle of a bunch of madness. I can't seem to just shut the door, turn down the light and roll tape, so to speak.

Part of me sees this as a strength and my laptop has allowed me to capitalize on it. I really get a kick out of sitting in a café near Union Square where a bunch of people are shopping/fighting over shoes while composing some chill downtempo stuff or sitting on to a bunker in Marin Headlands with a bunch of German tourists taking pictures making 157 BPM EBM'y stuff. Yet, I can't help but wonder if I'm missing out on something by not being able to take the traditional "shut the door and write" route.

Any thoughts from the Creative Gallery out there? I've been so happy with any musical output I'm able to manifest, I have been anxious about trying to "change the formula." I'm happy with my sonic proliferations as of late, but if any of you know me; it's never. good. enough.

In any case, thoughts/advice/slaps upside the head appreciated.

'nuff said.

Stilettos and black dot stocking, oh my.

It's rare I find a picture of any celebrity attractive, let alone one I admire, artistically.

Her song Collection "Tales of a Librarian" was released yesterday. Apparently, the songs are re-worked. I can't tell is she re-recorded any of them (piano and/or vox) or if they just re-mastered them. The iTunes previews sound like they re-processed the mixdown through a WavesL2 Ultramaximizer Limiter and/or a Bombfactory LA-2A with a low -db threshold and high compression ratio (a.k.a. that Limp Bizkit Loud Ass Boom-Boom Sound Processing in some circles...yes that is a technical term in my industry.) So, they're "louder" if that's what you're into.

go me.

Heard this in the car coming back from lunch.

"You don't have to be naked/to dance like a stripper
just shake your tail/like your name was flipper..."

Bad. Horrible. Ugh.

Mentioning Tori today also reminded me something: Hey, [livejournal.com profile] kyronfive, do you still have my "Boys for Pele" cd?

Time to pack.
