I worked the lights at the SFDC. It was a fund raiser for the Special Olympics thrown by the SFPD. It was 60's theme. Ironic, considering how synonymous the 60's are to drugs for there to be a fundraise thrown by SF's boys in blue.

There was a cool dueling pianos group from Vegas and a cover band. These people were just getting more and more annoying as time went by and the alcohol flowed. I got to hear Alex Fagan, Sr. say a few words. woo hoo.

I'm on another mental cycle where I'm having some rather malaise thoughts running through my head. I've consumed some scotch to try and numb that feeling, but it's not working. I'm feeling pretty pathetic right now for no apparent reason.

I'm finding everythign irritable. Great.

I've replaced my childhood saturday morning cartoon watching with saturday morning Bollywood watching. There's a station that shows musical clips from movies produced by Indian production companies.

I tend to enjoy the pop muzik sensibilites from Indian composers a lot more than the American lot (I think Robbie Williams is cool, but Oi! he's darn Red Coat!) and I take infulence from it for my own music meanderings. I enjoy listening to how people who have grown up around some of the most diverse and complex music on this earth (ragas are so fucking mathematical, from the temperment, melodies, modulations, and improvisations) and then infuse it with popular western music rules and regulations. Some of the music is down-right stunning, IMO. Others, well, it makes me laugh.

I just wish they could stop drowning vocals in a shitload of plate reverb (that effect that makes old Bollywood music sound like is was sung in a big cavern.)

I wish Hollywood could do a few musical-style movies a year that were as entertaining, but I fear they would star Jessica Simpson and have the musical/storyline caliber of a retarded platapus
