why do I beat myself up over the same damn things?!?!

I seem to always find myslef hung up with having a Wagner-esque soundscape orchestrations and constantly different sounds at every phrase of a song I write. I just picked up Orbital "In Sides" (I had owned it already, but it was stolen in one of my break-ins) and listened to it throughout the day. Gods, what a beautiful record. The funny thing? They hardly changed their drums, string pads, or bass sound on any of the songs. They just add a different sound to take the lead and use different effects. Otherwise, it isn't that layered I get neurotic if one bass sound is the than in a previous song. (I'm sure it would sound the same to most people, but there's a difference in the filter, lfo, resonance, tone generator, etc.) I need to stop and focus my "obession energy" on other things. It might make my life easier

Come to think of it, I think I've been telling myself the same thing ever since I was 17. Guess I'll never listen. But I need to try to not be so "layered-centric"

I just can't listen to Front Line Assemble or the Orb for a while...
