A reporter named Faith

Faith Fancher was a reporter for KTVU-FOX 2 out of Oakland. She's been there as long as I can remember. I used to watch the news a lot as a kid (I still do) and I remember on their morning show as well as in the afternoon. In 1997, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and for the last 6 years, she has been battling with the disease, as well as raising awareness and money to fight the disease as well as help those in need with her her non-profit, Friends of Faith.
She passed away this sunday, finally succumbing to the illness.
To me, she was one of those mainstays that one doesn't think will ever dissappear until they actually do. She was good at her job and I enjoyed her reporting as a kid. I remember her reports right after the Loma Prieta quake, staying calm as possible as chaos ensued.
Ever since my abuelita passed away, I tend to weep a little for people who die from cancer that were present in my life in some form or another. I guess since she was on the other side of the TV for so long, she was a presence to me.
At least she isn't suffering anymore, and she can rest easy now, after a lifetime of hard work and caring of others.
Rest in peace, Faith.
