It seems BushCo are reving up the old SSS engine. The BBC have an artcle discussing the comparisons of the Iraq conflict to Vietnam.

We don't need to go there again. People never do learn from history. Hitler didn't learn from Napoleon's mistakes. Could BushCo learn from Johnson and Nixon on this one?

Never mind, I think I already know the answer.

I'm scared now. On top of that, this song just came onto my iTunes shuffle mix.

An old friend of Trish's was over staying with us this weekend. He submitted for consideration the following premise: that the GOP leadership, the Bush Administration, and the GOP Congressional leaders are all on track with certain agendas - namely rewriting the rules of American politicical process; readjusting the economic burden onto the middle and lower classes; cutailing of individual rights; pursuing foriegn adventurist wars for oil resources, etc. - that they are pursuing these agendas for one of two reasons.

1) They are stupid and shortsighted, and this is all about a quick payout, and consequences be damned, or,

2) There is an endgame in mind, a planned out objective to all of this, and they are racing to reach the culmination before people can figure out what it really is.

I have decided that either of those is too frightening in its implications to think too hard about.
