I don't believe this

CBS bows to pressure and pulls Reagan drama.
Absolutely. Fucking. Ridiculous. I can't believe they actually bowed to the pressure. Somebody must have had some dirty laundry on somebody in CBS. That, or we have witnessed just how powerful the republican party (and out goverment) has become. To me, this is a thwarting upon the freedom of speech of the people behind the creation of the mini-series. I fear there will be more such government control of the media, and it will be in the fashion of "protests and boycotts" in order to obfuscate the reality of what is happening. Sure, they're showing it on showtime, but that will have a far smaller viewship than if it was on network. Besides, I bet the powers that be assume only "liberals and faggots" watch showtime.
There has to have been some back-office government pressure, because controversy attracts more viewers and can get a show a higher Nielsen rating. Why would they want to give that up??
I fear this world more and more as each day goes by.

Date: 2003-11-04 11:57 am (UTC)The media is definitely right-wing. They don't want anything possibly negative about the Republican party out right now. And, as someone else astutely observed, the conglomerates are all right-wing, therefore they will not put out anything that besmirches anyone in the Republican party.
